Can this Eagle be saved?

HAs anyone found a way to reduce the effects of corrosion as seen in the above photo?

Hello,

2 ways are known to me- but i haven't tryed them

1. Put some vaseline on the corroded areas (with a q-tip) and wipe off the rests after some time.

2. Put lacquer on the corrored areas, it will conservate the oxidation. (Some guys are using hairlacquer or nail lacqer for this)

From what you remember, can this remove some of the visual effects(white powder) as well as protect the remaining metal thread?

Is taking a soft tooth brush and gently brushing the loose powder away a bad idea? I thought about this as a possiblity, to remove some of the corrosion prior to the application of the vasoline or lacquer.

Hi Paul,

yes, i think the corrosion can be stopped. But be careful using lacquer-if you use the wrong lacquer the eagle will appear very "shiny".

Using a toothbrush is a good idea to remove lose oxidation.

You have to be carefull with the toothbrush..
the white oxidation is not a layer on top of the aluminum thread, it is the aluminum thead!! so by removing it you are risking to make af hole in the eagle..

Imo vaseline is the best way to stop corrosion..
