I've had the best success using Gaffer's Tape, a special tape used in the Film/TV industry. It's a cloth tape with adhesive that's very gentle yet sticks firmly.
I've found that it lifts adhesive residue quite well.
You can find it online at film supply houses, or locally, at any store that sells pro photographic supplies.
One caveat.....Get the "Permacel" brand....It's better quality and the adhesive is better. I use #665, because it's the best quality, (and I get it, free.....) and as a side benefit, if you use it for other things, it's actually reusable. If you use a good-sized length of it, just pull it up and wind it onto itself, inside out (adhesive side out) . Its' adhesive will not stick to its' own cloth backing.....
Goodbuys.com has a pretty good price, at http://www.goodbuyguys.com/catalog/i...cPath/22_86_87
It's not cheap, but if you use it for simply removing adhesive, a roll should last you about two lifetimes....
Cheers,
Bob.
