On a revent trip to Latvia I picked up a HJ snare drum and a smaller Pimpf version. The HJ drum required very little by way of restoration beyond a good clean up. Both hoops were in good shape with the black, red and white diamond and triangle patterning showing surprisingly little ware. The smaller Pimpf version however, had been painted thickly in what is best described as 'Tractor Green'. I had hoped that with the careful removal of the green paint traces of the original hoop edge pattern and colouring might show up. No such luck. Has anyone seen a photo or can tell me what the JV colour or markings were. Trolling the web shows plenty of HJ, DAF etc drums but no JV.
