    Rust remover

Hello gents and ladies (that is if there is a few)

I wanted your opinion on a product called evapo-rust. I figure this would be the best place to have it. In my job I remove alot of rust and would like the expert opinions. Thanks

I don't know about any product called evapo-rust. My best advice for dealing with rust is to use tannic acid as a rust converter, applied with a stiff toothbrush or 0000 steel wool. This is what museum conservationists use.

What is it you are working on?

              Dear Gentlemen,

I have just purchased some Evapo-rust. Its over in Austria and I am in the UK so no pics at the moment. If you want to see the results look here....

Look at the way the product works....its different from Acid.

              Regards Craig.

How will it go on a fairly rusted/pitted German Police Officer Dergen? Would it cause any damage to the blade platting?

The same gent who supplies Renaissance Wax also has a cleaning product that will remove rust...I highly recommend it! It's used by the Imperial War Museum, the Smithsonian Institute et. al.
                      Cheers, Steve
