Rubber

I no longer use silcone based products for my car and have always used talc for the rubber seals in my scuba diving dry suit. The use of silicone may do more harm in the long run than good. I agree it is the oxygen in air that is the problem. Perhaps storage in an inert gas that would be recommended by an archivist is the way to go. Just my 0.02

Very interesting, I didn't even know there were oxygen absorbers out there,
It gives a bit more to think about. A sealed tank could be worked into a display. Or Items could just be stored in bags. Does rubber need some humidity like textiles and Leather?

I had mainly thought about Gas Masks when I joined into this thread but my British mine detector has a number of rubber parts (like the headphones and wire are covered)
