Active service paybooks

Hi

I have a number of Kiwi and British active service pay books that have seen a hard life, In some cases the card has been torn away from the cover or glue has come unstuck. What would be people suggestions, Should I try to glue them back together? Or should I leave them alone? If I tired to glue what sort of glue should I use?

I would leave the items alone. I have collected documents for quite a few years and have come accross quite a few nice items ruined by well meaning collectors trying to preserve the item.

Thanks, I must admit the books contain the info no matter what, But the temptation to fix them was there..
