            Hi Jimmy,

Thats a great piece of restoration work! Great to see them restored to working order. The work you have done on the other badges posted is great as well. I'll definitely be in contact if I break any of my badges.

            Keep up the good work!

            Regards

            Steve

                  Hi Jimmy

I think the PAB work is a good job as you have just added the catch, but personally I would have kept the kvk as it was. Your replacement catch looks to have removed some of the original cast catch, which was nearly intact prior to the "repair".

It is clear that you enjoy the work, for those that like their badges repaired you offer a good service

                  regards
                  Graeme

to repair or not to repair that is the question

I would love to know the curent thinking on repairs. I have been out of the collection hobby a number of years. about 10 years. Ibought back part of my old collection to restart the hobby. from what I have seen I have a lot to relearn. when I left off RS stuff was rejected out of hand. Any help , any advise any one can share with me would be deeply appreciated . altakampher

hello sir as the quest goes on for genuine TR badges and their limited supply dwindles, as more and more collecters come on to the scene, , and the dealers scrape the bottom of the barrel for the upteenth time. then it was only a matter of time befor collectors realised that thay could have their badges repaired and for little money but thats just me

                        Hi guys,

                        Here are my thoughts.

Not everyone can afford the best, so you purchase what you can afford. If by buying something damaged and getting it repaired you can find something for your collection then that's what you do.

The same applies to buying repros, if you have an EK display and want to have an RK in there, you buy a repro if you can't by the real thing. This is the same with other badges, the cheapest items are those that are in poor condition, damaged or repro.

The main problem would be if people try to pass the repair or the repro off as period or geniune.

Another way of looking at it is: If you have a classic car and it is missing a part that you can get made, do you just leave it or repair it?

                        Regards

                        Steve
