how do you keep the finish on zinc badges from fading?

    Hey Guys,

Just wondering what is the best way to preserve the finish on some of these late war badges?

    Thanks,

    Erik

I have read that keeping the badges in a low humidity environment will help prevent loss of finish.

      Zinc Badges

      Hello,
I think low humidity is the key. I live in Arizona, and we have very low humidity, and very little rain. I notice hardly any change in zinc badges and some of these items I have owned for over 30 years.

      Regards,

      Jody

these little small paperbags with silca-gel you find in shoboxes, electronicboxes etc. is an other tip.I got a full shoe-boxe filled to the edge when asking my local shoe-store to save some for me

I store some of my badges in tupperware (don't know if that is the best way or not), but I use silica-gel contained in metal containers that are reusable. Once they turn pink put them in the oven.....that will renew them.
