Left alone! There is no reason to use tape on original documents ever.

Paper docs

In all preservation manuals for photos and docs as well, the adhesive tapes are strictely forbidden. The greasy components of the adhesive stuff will stain and destroy the document.
Elastic bands are also forbidden when photos are present since the sulphur used to vulcanize the rubber harms the image emulsion.
As said in the previous post, better leave untouched.

I only used water based glue to restore unexpensive period newspapers or magazines but with little quantity of glue with the help of a tiny brush those used in kits model making.
