Hi Klaus, Vaseline or WD40 will stop it getting any worse.

    Cheers, Ade.

                Hi Klaus,

..sorry, I mean't that I could send a can over to you in Germany if you are having trouble getting WD-40.

                Gruss,

                Konrad

                  oh sorry, totally misunderstood you.
Thanks for the offer! I try to get them myself at the moment.

                  Sorry for confusing you.

                    Hi Klaus,

I think "Ballistol" is a similar product available in Germany. At least it served the same purpose for me (stopping rust from getting worse). For a damaged zinc badge like your shield, vaseline is still the best. It will not only stop zinc rot, but also remove the blooming effect. Will look way better afterwards. Just leave vaseline for at least 24 hours on the affected spots before removing it.
                    Cheers, Frank

                      Hello,
When you apply the vaseline be sure to take stiff paper (such as an index card) and wedge it between the shield and the cloth backing. That way the vaseline will not soak into the wool.

I would like to see it afterward. Good luck!

                      Regards,
                      Jody
