    Scanning and reprinitng

    Hi

    I would like to have several of my photos I have collect scanned and then reprinted on modern film as a way to preserve them.

    What dpi should I scan them in and what are the best scanner settings to get the same or almost the same image as the original when they are finally printed on modern day film.

    Hi Karl,

    Ideally you should scan a picture at 300dpi. If you are worried about losing definition I would save the scanned picture in tif. format. Tif is lossless as opposed jpeg which always loses a bit when you transfer. You can then burn the tif images onto a cd, take the cd into your favourite photo place and tell them to print the picture whatever size you want.
