What good is't too have a safe or a bunker in the house when the thiefs ding dong on your door bell and puts a gun up your nose when you open the door.
This happens more and more these days, so the safest place is the bank. But what fun is't then collecting.

I know the episode you're maybe thinking of but as i understand it he couldn't have kept his collection at the bank. The next thing will be, the thieves stick a gun up your nose and hold your family whilst forcing you to go to the bank. Or they just raid the bank. All of that has happened before. It's up to each one of us to find the right mix of security and enjoyment there's no right or wrong answer.

The film Sexy Beast comes to mind. In that film the heist is to break into the vault and the characters then steal all the safety deposit boxes too. I know it is far fetched...but then so is someone breaking into my apartment on the 19th floor!

How many people have bought from dealers and then had the items sent to their home address??? I for one have thought about this many times and have for the last 4 years never had anything sent to my home address!! Either to a work address or to a friend or relative, NEVER to where my collection lives! All it takes is a dealer after a cut of the takings, or a thief going through their rubbish, your name and address on an invoice or stolen computer. very rarely big collections are stumbled upon by opportunists, careful planning is taking over. Think long and hard next time you purchase that rare item off the estand as to where your going to have it sent.

On another note you could always buy a vault door (type it in on google), really going to consider this if i ever build a house

Anyway the bank is maybe a safe place, all considered

I would suggest that it depends somewhat on where you live and the level of crime in your neighbourhood. No point in a safe deposit box if the level of house burglaries where you live is almost non-existent is it?

For me my biggest worry is fire so last month i finally got around to buying a fire safe, it has a 91l capacity and weighs 150kg. Good enough for my treasured paperwork but not quite deep enough for my photoalbums.

I think it's probably about the right level of security for me...that, the dogs and my trusty shotgun that is

Yes, but the same thing could be said about the guys who deliver your new plasma TV or stereo! Anytime workers come in they're going to see the stuff you have too.

The best recommendation is to be sure to have insurance, good locks and an alarm system. Or do what I do...live in an apartment building with a doorman and security cameras.

This is true!!
But my brother is the relative who i send to and he is always travelling around the country never in the same place for long due to work he just redirects anything i send him to me!
the friends who i send to are in halls of residence at uni and are always being broken into anyway by thieves and junkies they come home on weekends and bring anything i have sent to them!
They all like to help me! Although i keep them in beer, mind you!
If they raid my work place then there is only electric cable and a few knackered computers!

Oh I get your strategy, "hide" your objects in plain sight, amongst the thieves and junkies ... I am just giving you a hard time.
