    New Storage Arrived

I just got my shipment of these acrylic card/photo cases. These are 1/2 inch thick and have UV protection. I also got one that is 1 inch thick with a velvet case for a rare photo I have. These look nice and display well as you can get stands to set them on.

I'm looking for the ideal scanner for copying photos, need very high resolution and speed would be nice too. Any recommendations? Brand & source?

      Thanks!

Why is pressing a photo into a resin acrylic sandwhich safer than an acid free paper album or other methods? Will the paper stick to the acrylic under certain conditions of humidity etc? Anyway, Seems this method can get bulky and expensive fast.

I don't know if anyone has the absolute perfect way-is my acrylic sandwich better? I don't know but it works for me and I like to be able to put them on stands, etc. --so the display aspect appeals to me also. I have had a Bird/Magic 1981 topps rookie card in several similar cases for nearly 20 years and can't complain-still looks like the day I traded for it. So to each is own I guess.

Removing photos from an older album?

              Hi Guys,

I found this older (but valuable!) thread while looking for some info on photo preservation and decided to post my question as apart of it.

I have a page from a photo album (60+ years old) with several photographs glued to the black album paper. My thoughts are to remove the photographs and place them into the archival binder I have for my photo collection.

My questions are: is my assumption correct that I should remove the photographs from what may not be acid-free paper? If so, is there a perfered technique for detaching the photographs from the page?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

              - James
