Fabric for Display

After doing a bit of research I decided on using polyester felt as backing fabric for a small display for what are mostly zinc-based badges.

Would anyone happen to have any recommendations, or opinions against using this type of fabric? The only reservation I have is most retailers, online or otherwise, don’t know specific details such as how the fabric was treated and so forth.
I’m offered free swatches but in some sense that doesn’t help in any way.
I know there are several archival grade versions available but none seem to offer the color I wanted to use.

I try to use natural materials if at all possible.
Wool, cotton, etc.

Unbleached linen (wash a few times first, to be sure).
That's what I use, at least. Padding with cotton or polyester, etc.

Luftwaffe blue wool source?

I am planning a display of some (minor) decorations an elderly
friend earned in the Luftwaffe, and would like to display them
on correct-appearing blue Luftwaffe wool cloth. Would anyone
know of a source -- preferably in America -- where I could buy some?

You may have a difficult time to acquire the "correct-appearing" color of blue but, you should be able to find something that will do at most fabric stores.
