1944 Warsaw Uprising Theme

With October 3rd marking the 75th anniversary of the end of the 1944 Uprising, I want to share with you the portion of my collection focused upon this event. I actively collect Polish, German, and Soviet items and groups related to this important event.

I will start with the Home Army portion.

Major Max Reck, in command of Kampfgruppe Reck, under SS General Reinefarth.

A medic, who was also a WW1 vet. The only award he received for both wars is the HK.

Wound badge document for a soldat wounded during the uprising.

A cadet from the Infantry Officer School V at Posen, who marched to Warsaw under Major Reck. I've not had a chance to score display awards and insignia yet.

Various other German items not a part of a group.

Thank you all for the kind words. Here are the items that are coming in.

Original hat and photo. Material and construction are consistent with those manufactured in Warsaw and used during the uprising.

Next is a document grouping to a nurse who fought during the Uprising and forced into labor with the Germans after the capitulation.

I love how the document photos show her age progression.

What is SUPER cool is that the Warsaw Uprising Museum in Warsaw, Poland has footage of her. Also, the interview in the link below shows her account... (3:20 onward)

From the seller, Mikołaj Poraj Paciorek:

"These documents are a fairly fresh find I had this summer. She was a was a nurse during the Uprising in the "Róg" group. 1st Battalion "Dzik" of the WSOP (Service Forces for Protection of the Uprising). She was a nurse which tried to save the Polish poet Kamil Baczyńsk (AK member), he was killed on the 4th of September. Thanks to her account it was possible to recreate how he was killed. There was a film few years ago about Baczyński and in the scene of his death they put the interview with her."
