Nice pick ups. I especially like the tunic and fallschirmjäger badge.

I wish we had a show like MAX in the UK!

Now that I've had a chance to look him up: It's one of Oberst August Sambach's tunics from when he was an Oberstleutnant. Actually first purchased when he was a Major in 1938. Right as he got promoted to Oberst he shipped off to Crete and North Africa so I imagine he took tropical uniforms with him and didn't bother to update this wool tunic.

        Sambach, August, als Obstlt 8.41 - 6.42 Kdr FlakReg 131, als Oberst 16.6.42 - 21.8.44 Kdr FlakReg 53, 4.8.44 - 8.5.45 Kdr 6. Flak-Brig

As a Major he commanded I. Abteilung Flak-Regiment 9 of Legion Kondor fame, but he took command after the Spanish Civil War. Sources cite 9 February '40 until March of '41 as his tenure in command.

I owe DonC a beer as he'd seen the tunic earlier and pointed me in the right direction for research.

I also have to give a heartfelt thanks to Waffenreich for hooking me up with the belt. Here it is with my Waffenrock to the same unit, down to the exact company. The guy who wore my Waffenrock doubtless knew the guy who wore this belt as it's an early parade (grade I) belt, very likely in use the same time as my Rock. Thanks Bob!

You should! Maybe make a vacation out of it and hit some tourist attractions in the U.S. as well. "Two birds with one stone" as we say.

Thanks to DonC, I now have a photo album that was owned by August Sambach, the wearer of the tunic I purchased at the MAX. Quite incredibly, it was being offered for sale via a dealer's website and DonC threw me the link. Definitely owe him a beer.

This photo album was presented by his command staff to (newly promoted) Oberst Sambach as he was preparing to leave Flak-Regiment 131 as a going-away present. It features individual photos of the different staff officers as well as a group shot. In Sambach's individual photo, he is an Oberstleutnant (rank of his tunic I have) and in the group shot he is an Oberst, which leads me to believe the individual shot was at some point during his command of the regiment and the group photo was taken at the end his time with Flak-Regiment 131 as he was preparing to depart the unit to assume command of Flak-Regiment 53 on Crete.

I tried! Stretched my wallet like a ball of silly-putty.

It was great enjoying a nice dinner with you and your lovely Mrs. after a hard fight through the MAX aisles.

I just saw DonC today at the Schertz show.

How do you like the 'Panzer Krieg' book? I've been thinking of buying it.
