I think this shoe shine kit is from the Swiss army. Check the little block of "Riemenwachs", it will have instructions in German on one side and French on the other. Buttons look replaced. Swiss buttons were either horn, plastic, or flat topped aluminium three hole buttons.

No, I don't have a photo of one, nor could I manage to find one on the Swiss Rifle Board. You might check at "Rost & Gruenspan", a site dedicated to old Swiss stuff, but with the new improved site I have a hard time finding things. If you have a copy of Fisch's Infantry Equpment 1914-1945, it shows a Swiss set like this. I never saw an issue German set. Your kit is likely from the 30s or early WWII, as later ones are made from the typical salt-and-pepper (or salt and feldgrau) cloth. WWI and before vintage ones are sometimes reddish brown, same as pre WWI German stuff. The kit is missing the grease tin...it has a double can, one fits inside the other...also some buttons, usually a couple of uniform buttons, a few shirt and suspender buttons and maybe a zelt button or two. Even still has the small cord. Inside the thread spool are a couple of needles. Sorry I can't scare up a link for one...One of the surplus catalogs had some not long ago but I couldn't find any there either... Sorry..

Den I would love to see your items. You'd be amazed how fast your collection will grow. Your lucky enough to be in europe where you can pick up personal items in quantity at a fraction of the cost here in the states.Fortunately most of my items were bought in europe. Jim
