I've read styrofoam can damage headgear, so I take a pair of those cheap stockings from department stores and slide them over the head and cut them at the neck. Fits to the form of the head and puts a layer between the cap and the foam, and is practically invisible when stretched...

Interesting about the styroform. Never heard of. Were did you read that? Here at the forum? Maybe a good idea then get some protection then.

It was either here or over at USMF. The chemicals in it can cause damage or stains to items over lengths of time. Anything with acids in them are bad for direct contact with artifacts, which is why I use acid-free sleeves, frames, and paper for storing and displaying items.

I found that the cheap stockings are great. They cost a couple bucks, and one pair can usually cover 4 head forms
