    My Danish collection

    Hello all!

I am new to this forum as a member, but I have on and off been visiting, and looking from the sidelines. But now that I am a member, I would like you to show you my Danish collection.

I have been collecting Danish militaria for the past 7 years - on and off. Over the years I have narrowed down my field of interest to the Danish M/1915 system. This system was implemented in 1915 after the experiences made from the Western Front during WW1. The French suffered heavy casualties, which their brightly coloured uniforms contributed too. The colour of the Danish M/1910 where dark blue with light blue pants, similar to that of the French. In 1915, during the increased mobilization of the Danish Army in colleraltion to the ever increasing threat of being drawn into the war, the M/1915 was accepted as the new uniform. It was identic to the former M/1910 but the colour was changed to stone grey. The uniform was produced in an enormous amount and was therefore used in great numbers beside the later M/23 system. 57% of the Danish Army wore the M/1915 system 9th of April 1940.

Alongside the M/1915 tunic a new greatcoat was designed, but in a more limited number as there were a large number of the older M/1910 greatcoat available. Furthermore new ammo pouches were made. The former M/1906 were made of leather whereas the new M/1915 pouches were made of canvas.

In 1917 the Danish Army fielded close to 170.000 men, an enormous amount considering a population at the time, of around 3.mio.

During the interwar periode, a lot of systems were in use. M/1892, M/1910, M/1915 and M/23 were all in use at the same time, depending on where in Denmark you were.

My collection consists of several M/1915 tunics from both the infantry, the artillery and the work troops (2nd rank troops). Furthermore I have several M/1910 greatcoats and a single M/1892. A few of the tunics, almost all of the greatcoats, and the majority of equipment have all been used by regiments that had base in the city where I live (Fredericia).

A few bits here and there is still missing, but everything in its time - so enjoy!

First we have a M/1915 sergent field tunic - unfortunately it is missing on of the rosettes on the collar.

Next we have a M/1915 field tunic for the work troops.

Next we have 3 field tunics from the work troops, the artillery and infantry (respectively).

A field tunic from the artillery. This one still have a great colouration on the collars.

And another artillerist with faded collar.

A M/1892 field tunic from the infantry, a few more work troops, the artillerist with faded collar and then a row of M/1915 kepis.

And last but not least - the M/1910 greatcoats. From both the infantry and the artillery. The one with the red taps are a corporal from the infantry.

Hello Frank and thank you for the welcomst. The collection is constantly growing. But now I am beginning to get to the point where I have to look for items that are very rare, even here in Denmark. But that is the fun part of it all. The next I would like is a German uniform so I can make a contemperary German display beside my M/1915 sergent.

                      Hello Macleod.

Thank you very much. I will later this week post a series of pictures of the equipment used and a bit about the origin of it.

I am also maybe gonna sell/trade a complete set, tunic, greatcoat and kepi, as I have a few spares

Hello! First off, let me say, what an INCREDIBLE collection! I have been collecting Danish items for over 5 years, but it is very difficult to find items since I live here in the United States. I have managed to find several original pieces for a 1940 kit that I am working on. I have not been able to find a 1915 uniform! If you are looking to sell anything Danish related please let me know, I am always trying to find more! I love the history and the uniforms are so fascinating to me. Thanks so much for your help and consideration! Here is a photo of my kit, with a Danish street background that I did in commemoration of the April 9th invasion earlier this month.
