Infanterie Division 22 and other stuff

Finally I got my first Wehrpass!
This Wehrpass belonged to Wachtmeister Johann Lange.
He was born in Hemelingen (a village between Bremen and Verden) on 10.2.1912.

In 1935 at age 23 he became a professional soldier in the Wehrmacht. His Wehrbezirkskommandeur was the later Generalmajor Siegfried Marseille (KIA 1944), father of the famous Hans-Joachim Marseille!

Wachtmeister Lange served in the Wehrmacht for 6 years and a month.
He was trained with Feld Kanone 16, Leichte Feldhaubitze 16, K98k, Leichte Feldhaubitze 18, Pistole 08 and MG34.

He was trained as a Richtkanonier, Feeding expert (probably for the horses of his unit), Horseriding for NCO's, Geschutz-Zugführer and followed an Artillerie course for Unteroffizieren. He also had the Wehrmachtführerschein Klasse 2 and 3.

Sadly he was part of the Erdstaffel of AR22 on 10.05.1940 and did not came in action in ''Fort Holland'' during the Invasion of the Netherlands.

On 4.8.1941 he was awarded the Romanian medal for Manhood and Loyalty First class with swords.

On 21.11.1941 he got badly wounded and died the next day in a hospitalbed of San. Kp. 2/132 at the age of 29. He was posthumous awarded the Krimschild.

In his 6 years of service he always served within the 22th Artillerie Regiment. His last unit was 6./ AR22.

The Batteriechef of 6./ AR22 at the time of Lange's death was Henning Tantzen, he later became a Major and Abteilungsführer of II./ AR22. He survived the war and passed away in 1996 (my birthyear) at the age of 83.

Infanterie Regiment 47

New pictures I received!

Gert Kasch was a Schütze (1940) and later an Unteroffizier (1943) of Stab I./IR 47.
He came in action in May 1940 invading the Netherlands. His plane landed 5km from where I live, on the airfield of Valkenburg. In the five days fighting there he earned the EKII. From there on he fought in Russia, where he got wounded around August/September 1941 when the 22 Infanterie Division tried to cross the Dnjepr river. He also fought on the Krim, Kreta and Afrika, where he was made POW in the beginning of 1943. He earned the Krimschild, EKII, ISA and VWA Schwarz.

The last two months I received some 22. ID items.

First of all I bought a helmet from a soldier ''Freigang'' of the 7th Kompanie of Infanterie Regiment 65.
I also bought some shoulderboards, first off all a single board of a Oberst d.R of Infanterie Regiment 65. It must be from the later Generalleutnant Hans Schittnig who commanded IR65 from 8 May 1942 untill 20 August 1942.
I bought a pair of Hauptmann sew in shoulderboards from Artillerie Regiment 22.
And last but not least, some early war low rank Infanterie Regiment 16 shoulderboards.

Great Additions. I only have the photo of my relative and a pair of Coke-Bottle Green NCO Boards from Pionier Regiment Nr.22. I am trying to find a pair or single EM Chain-Stitched Boards from the same Battalion.

Does anyone know anyone that have some or willing to part with some?

I am always looking for stuff fromt he Battalion.

Finally got some new items to show

I got some photos and feldpostletters from Gefreiter Otto Adamczak part of 5./Grenadier Regiment 65. He fell 06.12.1944. In his last letter from 28.11.1944 he tells his parents that he is fighting Tito's Partisanen and he hopes to be home soon, signed by ''Euren großen Jungen''. Sadly he was killed the next week at the age of 23.

I also got a portrait of a Gefreiter Rudolf Dose. He was part of the second battalion of Grenadier Regiment 65. Sadly he also fell just before the end of the war on 14.04.1945 as a MG-schütze. You can see he wears a thread on his shoulderboard, just as soldiers from II./GR65 when they said goodbye to their former commander Major Saldern (Source Historic.de)

A new arrival! A EKII document related to the fightings in Festung Holland. Heinz Feldmann served with 4./ Artillerie Regiment 22 which fought at Alblasserdam. His batterie was richly awarded. Out of the 11 Uffz. from the fourth batterie that survived the Dutch campaign, 7 were awarded the Eiseren Kreuz 2. Klasse. Horst Külken was also part of the fourth batterie during the fightings in Festung Holland, but was part of the Erdstaffel.

The document is signed by the later General der Gebirgjäger and Ritterkeuz mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern Hans Kreysing, Commander of Infanterie Regiment 16.
