    Helmet Display Stands

If you are at all "handy", this is an inexpensive yet elegant way to go.

It starts with a 3/4" board, possibly scavenged, that's wide enough to provide a stable base. Get dowels from the hardware store (i use 3/4" diameter).

Cut the board into squares or oblongs & smooth the rough edges lightly with medium grit sandpaper. Take each of these squares & drill a 3/4" hole in the middle.

Cut the dowels into a length that looks good to you with a helmet on top ( i use a bit over a foot long). Spread carpenter's glue to the entire surface inside the hole & insert the dowel.

After the glue sets up, you can finish the stand or leave it to age naturally. You can bevel the edges with sandpaper, stain it, apply clear coat, whatever you like.

Cut out a disc of scrap rubber or leather of slightly larger diameter than the dowel & glue this on the end; it will help the helmet stay in the position you want, & protect the dome paint.

Not as fancy as some commercial stands, but a lot cheaper. And the simplicity lets attention go to the helmet & not the stand.
