    Collection 2016-2017

I used to collect militaria with my Dad when I was growing up. Last year I start to sift through what we had after many years away from the hobby. Some pieces I let go but others I held onto. I got bit by the bug again after attending an auction and making my first purchase in over a decade - a silver wound badge. It turned out to be a B.H. Mayer '26' SWB. That started to give me some focus. I decided to only collect material produced by Mayer and K&Q (Why K&Q I can't remember).

Here is where I am now and I thought it was about time I shared something. It's been really enjoyable (but expensive!) re-discovering all of this.
I will leave some notes with each photo and I apologise for numerous watermarks. I hope you enjoy having a look.

This is the K&Q Collection. I am still looking for a nice GWB with case and possibly a LDO box for the BWB.

This is the much more humble B.H. Mayer Collection. My Christmas treat to myself was the 'L/18' EK2 with case.

Hi Kevin - thank you. It's nice to collect within parameters. I used to be much more eclectic when collecting but this has been much more satisfying.

Great collection & photos! And nice focus too; that's a decision I have to make this year & stick to it. This hobby is too expensive as it is and one person (well, most of us) can't acquire everything. Even owning a nice mid-range collection seems to be becoming prohibitive for newer collectors.

Hope to see more of your items in future!

After your wound badge post I checked out here and interestingly I have had the same experience as you. I collected as a boy in the 80's - what German Militaria you could collect in Sydney then, left it and now I've come back to it. (Love that Ek2 btw.)

I also like your maker mark focus, best way to bring clarity to the chaos of collecting.

Have you checked out the Instagram app, its a nice way to display your pics...

                              Hi Dave,

Thanks very much. Yeah, that EK2 is a bit of a gem. It's a big addition for me. Is there anything in particular that you collect now or just German Militaria in general? What drew you back to the hobby?

I do have an instagram account but I never use it. Is it popular with collectors?

                              All the best,
                              Rob.
