I am not a medal collector, but found the Titanic hat pretty cool. Is it real, or only real from the movie?

        We have the same carpet.

        Different stains, though.

The sextant is cool. I have plenty of valuable original awards and decorations, but the most prized pieces in my collection are the deactivated proximity fuzes my father-in-law helped design in 1942-1950, given to him by the government along with the tools he used, and the accompanying documents, plaques and citations, and the little lapel pin given him by the U.S. Government, the Naval Research Lab and the Applied Physics Laboratory. He also worked on Hydraulic transfer valves designed for use in the first guided missiles.

Finally, he did some important work on the first heart pump! Ah, Cincinnatus!

That sort of "personal" thing - like your wonderful sextant - is priceless.

        Nice collection.

The titanic hat is not original and it was not used in the movie ether. My moms friend gave it to around the time the movie came out. I guess it was a promotional item. I also have some replica documents about the titanic disaster. I will have to find them and take pictures or scans of them and post them. They are really neat.

Before I started collecting military I collected titanic items. That is cool that your father-in-law worked on the first guided missiles. My moms friend sent me some military patches for Christmas that I will have to take pictures of. There still are more things that I will have to take pictures of, but I just haven't got the time to do it.

          Thanks for the replies.
