    Storage of visor caps?

    Hello guys,

I hope this topic fits in this section. Amongst other things i collect visor caps from 1890 to 1918 in this regard i got a question.

How do you store your Kaiserreichs Visor caps? Most of the visorcaps are more fraguile than the ones from the WW2 timeframe. I don't know how to store them properly. The cap should "breath" but it shouldn't stand on the visortip. I don't trust syntetic materials like foam. On a glass head the visorcap can barely breath.
On a normal headgear stand made out of acryl is the most pressure on the top of the cap. How do you guys solve this problem?

    Greetings and thanks

I use the Styrofoam heads but wrap tissue paper into a kind of headband so the cap doesn't touch the foam and also has space to breath.

        Hello Guys,

thank you for your help! I really like the stands from Skipper Greenwade. The only problem is the shipping to germany, i will ask him about the costs.

The variant with Styrofoam is also a good idea. I will see. I would like to see/hear more storage variants.

        Greetings

              Hello guys,

i bought some stands from Skip. A really nice guy and fantastic stands, i really like them.

Here is a photo of a Visor cap with the stretcher inside. https://picload.org/image/rrpicilr/muetze4.jpg (I hope its ok to use extern uploads?)

I put some acid free tissue between the wood and the leather. (Wood may be harmfull to fabrics such as cotton and leather. The guide to display and preserve headgear from the internetside "Kaisersbunker" is really good for this topic)

                  Hello,

i have another question about this topic. I ordered some of skip stands and i will order some more in some time.

But i am thinking about to display some visorcaps and Krätzchen on glass heads. Will the interior dry out because of the airbarrier or could it be fine with the right humidity in my collection room? Have anyone some experiences?

@glenn66: Could you show me your construction of the headband in your method?

                  Greetings
