    A.H old carnival boiled pasteboard masks...trash find!

    Hi to All

    I Don't know if I post on the right forum as I don't found any other forum related to "miscellaneous" items...The collection one seems the most adapted.

    Found last week in a carton box left outside with the trashes, more than 30 ancients carnival masks in very good condition were discovered.
    Most of them represents classic carnival characters as clowns, animals as per also an interesting "Faust" devil mask or a funny skull head mask, but more particularly, nested into each other, what I suppose to be quite scarce for carnival masks, there were 3 Adolf Hitler masks with 3 various aspects.
    These masks, made of paper-mache or boiled pasteboard seems to be from mid 40's until mid 50's because after, most of the carnival masks are in thermoformed plastic and also because representing A.H for carnival masks seems unlikely after these dates...

    Except the A.H masks, the two most interesting found with;
    A Faust evil mask made with bonded gauze i/o pasteboard as per the Skull head.

    And the 3 kind of A.H carnival masks
    With the same pattern but various treatment, one is painted in plain color, the other two are also painted but covered/coated with velvet powder clear or dark color

    The coloured one

    inside masks

    The clear velvet coated

    & The dark velvet coated (lightly scratched on left side)

    Does anyone ever seen anything like this? and does someone have an idea of the value of this type of object...???
    Thanks & Best to All
    Thierry

    in addition a WWII period picture with kids with A.H mask (a different one but which could be in the same material)

    I guess the old saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” would be quite appropriate here. Cool!
