    Young collection

    Hey guys,

Thought I should post my collection as i'm knew to collecting, and it would be cool to keep a record here. Also don't plan to buy anything for a while now. I'm 19 and started collecting at the beginning of the year. Its not very large. I do plan to buy a nice tall display case in the future.

    Happy collecting
    Lewis

The three medals at the bottom are double ups and plan to sell them in the future.

              Hi Lewis,

Let me be the first to congratulate you on you super collection so far

You seem to be a man after my own heart because from what i can see condition is the most important thing,it is for me too.Its easier to buy than it is to sell and from my experience condition always sells.

1.Is the KvKI Set a Kerbach! very nice indeed
2.I love the way you have laid out the Mothers Ribbon in the case
3.The two KvKII sets are nice, are they D.Hordes!
4.Did you buy the Westwall medal with the LDO Box!

Yep get that display case, things look even better behind glass in my opinion.

Well done Sir,whats next when the time comes and money permits!!

All the best and enjoy the hobby mate

                    Hello

                    A great start so far

It's great to see new young collectors entering the hobby!

I started collecting at 8 and I started with exactly the same collection....I'm 43 now.

                    What got you interested?

I see as mentioned that you are going for quality items with their issue packets and boxes.....very wise

So where do you go from here? Where do you want to go? There is a lifetime off interesting items you can collect......I think your missing a nice first class iron cross in box! I'm sure some members can help you out!

If you are going for badges go for early quality maker marked examples. Some of the cheaper late war examples look like they have come out of a Christmas cracker. As your collection progresses so will the cost of the items you go for as you acquire the common items and go for the rarer pieces.

Getting involved in this forum will prevent you from making costly mistakes. There are a lot of decent guys on here with excellent knowledge and are more than happy to give you help and advice.

Take your time and buy wisely and find yourself a partner who supports the addiction!

                    Mike

                      Hey Ross,

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I agree. I love mint/mintish items and with there case/packet they were awarded in. Makes for great displaying and like you said easier to sell.

                      Yes it is a Kerbach
                      Thanks
Yes they are from the D.hordes
Yes the box goes with the west wall. Probably my favorite set in my collection!

Yeah for sure. Will be good when i get one sorted.
I would like to get my black and silver wound badges upgraded to more mint and the silver one cased. Apart from that more mintish awards.

Loving this hobbie. Definitly in it for the long run.
                      Best regards
                      Lewis

                            Hey Mike,

Wow you have been collecting for a while!

I enjoy watching tv series when I have the time. One day I decide to look for war related shows and of course found band of brothers. Enjoyed the series so much that I wanted to collect the awards the soldiers were awarded. Did some research and decided on German ww2. Like most I enjoy the history of the the country Germany in that period of time. The craftsmanship, attention to detail, quality and the way the medals look. Everything really. Not to say other countries are bad. I just want to focus on the third reich. Just sucks that a lot of people don't understand the hobbie.

Just more third reich medals/badges/shields. Anything of the main awards. Don't have a super focus yet and don't know if i ever will. I have formans price guide book so I know how many items there are to collect! Not buying at the moment but I definitely need an iron cross in my collection!

Plan to get into the real Wehrmacht badges in the future and will for sure stick to early marked mint and if lucky cased items.

Joining this forum has been the best decision so far. Its an awesome well run community. The odd grumpy person but we can all be like that sometimes. And yes, many helpful people that know what there talking about.

Thanks for the great comment and kind words!

                            Best regards
