    Light Advice

    Hello,

I help run a small military museum and I'll give you what I know about lighting. The biggest thing is how long you leave the light on for. Are looking at leaving it on for a few hours, or minutes?? If you leave it on for long, the heat given off could dry out the leather. Now another thing that must be taken into account is the use of flourescent lights. If you use these, I would recommend putting a UV filter on them. These can be found in most Hardware or lighting stores.

Personally I would suggest something that does not give off alot of heat. We use Halogens for the main rooms but for the individual displays we use the Florescent lights with the UV filters. We stay totally away from normal light bulbs. I would also recommend that you just turn them on for the wow factor and not leave them on for a long time.

I also think that adding a small light is a great way to increase a display.

    Just my opinion,

    Cam
