    WW1 - ten years collecting

Well, after ten years collecting i have to admit i had a few wrong turns in between. But over all i kept my aim on it.
The halfe dozen of WW2 daggers may count as diverged. The halfe dozen of WW2 Uniforms were just impassable occasions. And these two dozens of WW2 medals... i mean, you know how it is. "Oh! That one looks nice." And "i made the trip to this fair and i ain't going from here with nothing (and no unspent money)"
All the rest of heh time i just looked for my main interest: WW1.
So there are at least 50 Iron Crosses not on display, halfe so much WB and many different medals that doesnt strike me as much as a Shrapnell or a fragment of a shell.

    One over all pic.
You find my vitrine has only four shelfes.
On top The helmets. So to say M15, M16 and M18 as referred to they time of use in the war. Not as theyr real "name". Also i point out all the Prinzen crosses in the middle. What? you saw the P08? Its demilled anyhow. Interesting is the Periscope you find in the background.
On the second floor i placed the two (rep) trench maces with a cup full of shrapnells and two shell fragments. Guarded on the sides by two gasmasks. Did you ever put your face inside one of those?
To continue, below you find the stickgrenades M15 with Poppenberger impact-detonator (fake - sold to me by PM Premium Militaria), a Friedrich, a Wilhelm and a M17. In between is an early M16 with waxed paper lid. Interesting model before the screw-zinc lid appeared. I cant get enough stickgrenades... the full box is under the vitrine.
On the bottom i have placed a few Schirmmützen with further gasmasks - interstingly marked with "Dräger", till today producer of masks and inventor of the original Gummimaske and further gasmasks. And a M18 Gasmask. Better Straps, easier fitting, Eyepieces protruding outside anf most important: the exhaust-exhaling valve! That is the las model developed at the end of the war. And not even reached the front before armistice. Ah, have to mention the dehumidifyer under the Reichswehr Schirmmütze: keeps all nice and dry! No mildew allowed here!

Thank you all for your kind words!
As collector fellows you know, its a lot of time you invest, some burns, some reading, some looking, lots o patience. But the most i remember are these few, i personally had 4, bitter experiences where you lost a chance of getting a unique piece. Sometimes you even notice it years later.
Don`t you have such experences too?

That is called learning....happens to all of us....it pays to know what you are looking at...and the correct time to pounce....that is the name of the game basicly. Happy hunting.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Just wanted to comment a few more items. Please look at the "Tragevorrichtung" for Kugelhandgranate lying beside the Brustpanzer (3rd model). I never saw a real one for sale. Never in m life in no shop, anywhere. Mine therefore its neither, sorrily. I can tell the difference, so i never found one. Just saw once in a museum....
