    november '44

I'd like to show you my Gefreiter, stated during the second battle of the Kurland pocket in november 1944. At that time the Germans were trying the reestablish the connection with German units in East-Prussia, which didn't work out.
The Gefreiter is wearing a Wintertarnanzug Sumpfmuster 43. Because it's at the Eastern Front he's equipped with a PPSH41 in the last picture, as Beutewaffen were very common. Of course the ppsh and k98 are both completely number matched.

The PPSH is really in pristine condition.

Well, maybe it's nice to include a bit of the western front in november 44 as well.
At that time the Canadians were fighting hard (on a much smaller scale than in Kurland of course) to clear the river banks and isles at the Scheldt river. Thus clearing the way to the important port of Antwerp.

Awesome display! I always wanted to get a deact PPSH but never got around to it. I'm wishing I'd hung on to my K98 though because apparently it would have displayed very nicely with my parka!

Thank you. I also like the look of the Parka. Its colors are still very bright, that's often not the case.

And a soldier without a weapon is not really a soldier imo.

Great Gefreiter, good work. Like the Canadian, too. Impressive face.

Thanks for the kind reactions. The PPSH is dated 1944.

Here a little Luftwaffe display. The helmet is named Erwin Schuch, from the soutwestern city of Pforzheim. I assume he survived the war.

A bit imperial, just because I like that part of history as well.

We see a M95 Pickelhaube (dated 1900) that belonged to an Unteroffizier from the 75th Infanterie Regiment Bremen. At the right a M15 helmet for regular soldiers, made in 1916 in Barmen (Wuppertal).
