    a shelf...

... and the ad antiques DO fit it, in a way... They soften the military feel of the place without jarring the senses.

Hi Ralph! Very homey and comfortable looking "bunker" indeed. I think you could definitely get a gig decorating restaurants like TGI Fridays, etc.

          another shelf.

The clock is from ca. 1970, and it has a picture of one "W. A. Boyle" on it's face, the then-president of the United Mine Workers.

I picked it up for a song on e-Bay, as it was offered as "UMW" memorabilia - ... and there's not much of a market for that... but...

...the seller apparently did not realize that ol' "W. A." was in reality non other than William Anthony "Shotgun Tony" Boyle, the notorious gangland figure responsible for the murder of Rich Yablonski and his family in 1969. Yablonski was running against W.A. for prez of the UMW on an anti-corruption and reform platform at the time, and ol' Tony, not liking this, had him wacked; real-gangland style - in his bed and along with his family.

There was a movie about this called Act of Vengeance, with Charles Bronson playing Rich Yablonski. W.A. died in prison when convicted of the crimes.

So the clock is actually Mob memorabilia, and thus worth much more as a collectible, given the current "popularity" with "things underworld", fostered by such things as The Sopranos, Casino, Goodfellas and a host of other underworld flicks.

The clock is really great, and a fave thing. it's just so schlocky and... creepy... and it keeps perfect time! Absolutely perfect. Amazing.
