    Show Us Your Enamel/Metal Signs!

There is no forum for signs or enamel shields. I have a small collection of them and thought I would start with one of my favorites. Except for a few chips, nearly flawless NSDAP/RZM sign. The back is great that is has what appears to be a factory applied Propaganda leaflet that charts the 3rd reich history. It is more interesting in that no one would see it because it is of course facing a wall.

I would like to see others, show PLEASE!

Cool sign Jeff, although I know you have some I like better. These seem very collectable in their own right. I believe they are also faked somehow. Any tips on how to identify fake signs?

Thanks Harry - The ones you are talking about, are not quite in my collection. Here is one of my rarest. Tin sign for an NSKK doctor.

You are correct about fakes. I saw them at shows in Germany. Swing Tanzen Verboten is of course the one everyone thinks of. The others are the air raid signs. There is others now that are very good that duplicate NSDAP, DRK signs and of course Adolf Hitler Strasse. There is a seller that sets up at SOS and the MAX that appears has a good supply of new generation fakes. Tough to describe, but the quality and age of the enamel and the rust and damage on an original kind of jumps out at you. The old "one looker" thing.

Here is one of my favorites - it has that "been there" feel to it. Complete w/ bullet dings, sharpnel damage and fire scorching. Regards, erickn

Erikn - Do you know where that came from? Must have been in the way of US troops. Definately been there. I have that type sign too. These are part of a 2 sign grouping. Underneath it was another smaller sign that had the city name.

Here are the main gate Eagle shields reported to have been taken from Kasenre Schilder Munchen, Feldherrenhalle Division. Each are steel plate & measure 3 feet tall X 32 inches wide. The Eagles wingspan measures 27-1/2 inches. Each weigh over 50 lbs. a piece. 3 mounting holes on each & one can see where they have been mounted to pole.

                      Regards,
                      Erickn.

Here is another. This one is stamped, non-magnetic metal sheet that measures about 6-1/2 inches square. State Property

Hi Jeff, I do not know where the NSDAP enamel sign came from but, it looks like it may have been Hell. I really like your RZM sign you started the thread with. I would think it is very rare! Thankx for posting it.

Love the signs! I have 2 signs removed from a Kaserne. A NO SMOKING sign and this emergency telephone sign. Both are the same font and style.

Some signs are common everyday like both of these.
