    The Birth of a Bunker

For the last week Denver seems to have swapped weather with Seattle. Since it is raining again today and I'm unable to get out to enjoy my yard, I thought I'd show you guys the birth of my new bunker.

Last September my wife and I moved after I was hired by a different police department. It had an unfinished basement and I claimed it for my office and museum. I built the last two bunkers on my own but I'm not a tradesman and it takes me a long time to build things (when you have no other marketable skills you become a cop). As I'm not getting any younger and I wanted to use the space as soon as possible I hired a contractor.

This first picture is what my office looked like before construction began.

This is the same area cleaned up. This area will eventually become the museum.

This photo was taken at the far end of the museum looking through the shared wall into my into my new office space. The door between my office and the museum will eventually be on the right. You'll have to go through my office to gain entrance to the bunker.

It took the contractor a day to frame it out. It would have taken me three months. Here the electrician has begun to complete the wiring.

The contractor had to run new heating ducts and I had them put in recessed lighting.

The framing and electrical rough in is completed and insulation is going in. This was taken from my office looking through the wall into the bunker. The door will be on the left.

                        Hi TJ,

Looks like a good sized area, and being completed by fast and highly competent tradesmen!
Would love to see more "in progress" photos - and, of course the completed project complete with your collection in place.
                        Keep us posted!

                        Best wishes,

                        John.
