    Evolution of a Collection

    Hello All,

I'd like to thank those of you who have requested that I display my collection. I hope you are not disappointed.

After a long break from actually collecting, I spent the spring and early summer cleaning out my collection and starting fresh. Everything you see, with the exception of one EKII and the 2nd Class Spange, has been added since the spring of 2004. My next goal is to add a cased DKiG and hopefully a cased EKII. If any of you remember my post from October of this year, you will see that this is virtually a completely different collection.

Thanks also to those of you that might recognize pieces of this collection.

First up is a cased B.H. Mayer EKI with an unmarked B.H. Mayer spange. The 2nd Class spange is vet acquired and unmarked. There are also the stick pins for the 1st and 2nd class spanges.

Here is a rare green EKI case in mint condition. With it are S&L and Deumer EKII's.

I'd love to slap a mint K&Q EKI in that case.

Here are some unusual EKII's. L to R, top to bottom: Shinkle form, round 3, a 24 marked wide frame, and an unmarked parade mount identified as a 75 (unknown). Sorry about the glare, most of these medals are under glass.

Here are some EKII's with packets. L to R: Anton Schenkl's, K&Q, and a band packet, I believe is Knobloch. All packets and crosses are appropriately marked, and the original tissue paper is folded inside each packet. Again, please forgive the glare.

Here is a EKII award document dated June 1940. With it is a beautiful Deschler EKII. I'm really getting into these documents. They add so much to a display.

Next is an EKI award document dated August 1943 with a brass or coppered core Ferkinand Hoffstatter L/19 EKI. With them is an EKII document dated July 1941 with a Paul Meybauer EKII.

Here are some KVKI's. The 1st class w/swords is unmarked and is stone cold mint. The 1st class w/o swords is also unmarked and near mint. The parade mounts still await the arrival of their little brother from George's stable.

I almost forgot, I didn't take a picture of it, but I have a carton for the 1st class w/o swords from Friedrich Orth.

Here are some packeted examples of KVK's. All are marked and have the tissue paper in the packets. It's hard to line these up in the case, so I didn't take them out. Two are marked for Keller, and I believe Orth. Can't remember the third. Sorry about the glare.

Here is a tribute to my friend Werner Grun, RKT. He is missed.

                      Last one (for now).

And finally, a few more photos of Major Grun.

Thank you for viewing my humble collection, and thanks to those of you that have made my progress thus far possible. It is truly appreciated.

Projects for 2005 are, as I said, a DKiG, a cased EKII, and a decent display cabinet.

                        Hello

I think your collection is by no means humble!
I find it focused, of high quality and displayed with great taste!
Congratulations!! And best of luck for your future goals!

                        All the best
                        Yannis

Dont start the "humble collection" talk! This collection is awsome!
Your display is nice and clean, realy loved to see what you have put together and your use of cases.

                            Cheers

I may be able to help you out on the case EKII front, this is the address of a seller; he has a couple of cased EkIIs but be warned, alot of his stuff is OK but some is not! you have to know your stuff before buying! Here is the link http://www.ww-collection.de/:

                              Good luck!

                              best,
