    Iconic groupings

Greetings all. I'm mucking about attempting to create 'groupings' of iconic items of uniform and Kit.

The logic being that one day, I am not going to have access to the generous space available to me in the current 'Man Cave'.

This being the case, I am attempting to discipline myself, and confine a grouping to items that will fit in a reasonably confined area; items that 'tell the story' of tha particular campaign; are immediately recognizable to the layman; or have special significance because of their rareness.

I anticipate one day having limited shelf space or cabinet space and need to arrive at the right 'mix' of items - not too many, and not too large.

I'll begin with this - The Desert Campaign, and add more to the thread as I go.
    Feel free to add yours!

Next group - Officer, 2nd New Zealand Division (2 NZ Div), North Africa.

NZ 'Lemon Squeezer' hat with Auckland Regiment, New Zealand cap badge. I joined the Auckland Battalion as an 18 year old.

Thompson M 1928 SMG. .455 Webbly revolver. Officers frequently purchased their own side arms and many pre war Territorial Officers had WW1 issue .455, or inherited their fathers.

NZ troops didn't use the Sten. By the time they deployed to Italt, the Thompson allocation per Btn had been increased to 28, and revolvers were all.45 calibre to simplify logistics with the Americans.

Brown boots for officers, swagger stick and Field manual from 1914.

Actually, the keen eyed amongst you will have spotted that the DP28 is the (M) model, not introduced until mid war...
