    My small collection

Well I have been collecting German and American WW2 items since I was in high school. I am in college now so money is hard to come by at times. Just finding stuff I thought looked neat and if it was a good price I would get it. Luckily I haven't lost any money over fake stuff and have learned how to spot fakes from this forum. Going to do shadowboxes dedicated to Luftwaffe, Wehrmacht and my new main focus will be Hitler Youth. But here are some pictures from my collection. Still looking for a few minor things.

I finished up my Wehrmacht display today. In the picture is my BNZ 42 Mauser Kar98k and my AC-41 Walther P38.

Kind of a bad picture but you get a general idea. The helmet was sold to me for 50 dollars. It was covered in fake green paint and a luftwaffe eagle. Yeah I know that bad of a fake but imo an original shell is worth more than 50 dollars. I removed all the fake stuff and got down to some original color and emblem.

Here is my German medal display case.

Wehrmacht display still not sure on if the armband is original. Did a burn test and it burned super fast so I feel positive about it and I have also seen some brown armbands similar to this being legitimate. Until someone can tell me how its fake I will just go on with the feeling as if it is real. Was given to me as a gift along with the 1929 eagle hat pin and the Luftwaffe Armbandcompass.

Better picture of my AK39 compass and 1941 P38

Here is some of my American stuff. Got this jacket for $40 dollars. Came with all the medals on it.

My two front seam M1 Helmets. The one with the camo net has seen service up to Vietnam. Both are front seam fixed bale helmets. The M1 pictured is a 1943 Springfield Armory M1 Garand.

And last but not least my Fallschirmjager gravity knife. Bought this for 100 dollars a couple years ago.

Looks like a very nice collection. Good job!

Why the interest in Hitler Youth? Any particular reason?

Well I just find Hitler Youth interesting I suppose. Guess its the whole part of them being younger. The RAD has always interested me too but I havent really made a huge effort to look for any of their items.

Fair enough! I always found that whole movement very sad myself - so I thought you might have a specific link to it somehow that sparked an interest...

I think it was the whole part with the kids engaging in military activities and fighting. Of course war is sad. There are many many terrible things that happened during WW2. But the same stuff happens in almost every war. Genocide, children being forced to fight etc. I can't feel sad about it I just look past all of that. There's nothing we can do about it now other rhan learn from past mistakes in history and unfortunate events

The Hitler Youth is a fascinating subject and no sadder than any area of TR

I loved collecting HJ items and studying its history

I can appreciate your take on it. However, I still find it sad.

But you are right...a lot of sadness in general - and even worse. But that's a discussion for another forum.
