    Your Top 3 Icons...

I am currently collecting a bit of militaria for vignettes...I am trying to capture the feel more so than anything else...

I am working on WW1 Canadian...WW2 East Front German...and maybe a post - war East German display (some of my Mom's family chose to resettle there...). I might inadvertently have a British thingy happening too. ..

The helmet ranks first...and I love certain trench art...certain weapons are also fascinating...but I am still in the process of learning and researching...so not sure what to pursue. ..

So I am wondering what everyone's Top 3 Icons were...of any given war or battle...

Not sure what you are asking. My 3 favorite pieces in my collection?

I was wondering more what everyone considers most iconic..not necessarily your favourite.

      For example (IMHO):

WW1: helmet, bayonet, gas mask = iconic

WW1: helmet, bayonet, trench art = my favourites!

Thanks Arthur! That's what I'm after. So that would be WW2 German!

I'm interested both in peoples' opinions...and then in putting together a list that might be useful for history displays etc., I think - given the state of the world at the moment...we are on the potential brink of a renewed interest in recent war history...which will hopefully prevent another large upheaval.

I know my own education is woefully lacking...as was that of my children...

And having visuals is one way to garner interest...

278 views...but only a couple of wonderful posters have replied...

Is it a silly question? Did I word it wrong?

              Because I am still curious...

You are all giving me great ideas! Thank you!

But there is so much iconic material out there...I'm still having a hard time focusing. I think that's a bane of all new collectors (to any genre). I'm all over the place.

Not to mention...what I like the most always seems to cost the most too...

Tough to choose, perhaps M35 Helmet, p08 Luger, Iron cross....(belt buckle and stick grenade in reserve maybe...)
                          Regards
