    Storing Medals with Bayonets..

    Hi,
I just wondered if anyone knows of any ill effects of storing Medals and War Badges in the same display case as Bayonets?
I didn't know if being of dissimilar metals they would affect the awards?Or even the thin coating of oil on a Bayonet would cause any ill effects to them?
    Thanks and regards,lynton.

Hi Lynton, this is not something I have ever done so I can only speak from seeing phtos of this practice, mainly by collectors in the USA. It seems quite popular with dagger collectors to add one or two awards and cloth items to the same display case. I do not think it would cause any problems myself?

      Cheers, Ade.

To be the most safe, just make sure you don't have dissimilar metals touching each other. Even then if they are in contact with each other it's not a major concern unless it's humid...humidity and salts lead to the process that causes contact corrosion.
In other words, unless you live in a humid seacoast environment you should be safe!
