My new insignia displays

Hello
I was looking into buying some insignia pieces recently and found that, over here anyway, choices to display them were very limited, they weren't purpose built and overall very plain and ordinary...
So I've come up with the following samples, and I think these not only work very well but they just look great, especially when you can relate the insignia displayed to the backing material behind. The one I have completed is a Heer Gebirgsjager sniper badge on the field grey wool backing - that is in the smallest size frame by the way.
What else is that all the frames (apart from the "3 window" version) can be displayed free-standing AND wall hanging in both portrait or landscape format!
The mounts are "conservation" type so free from any nasty chemicals to damage the items displayed inside.
I figured since they looked so good I would post them up here to gauge opinion on them, and I will hopefully start to sell them on here, made to order - with whatever backing someone wants, in whatever frame size. I have currently 7 different WW2 German pattern backing material types as shown in the pictures, but with limited quantity of a few of those such as reversible SS Oakleaf camo/reed green HBT.
So I'd love to hear some opinions on them and any thoughts on the frame size to use, especaially the "3 window" version as this can't be used free-standing at present... is that an issue? For that one as you see here I decided to mix fabric backing, but it would be possible to have all 3 windows the same or any combination you should want. I think the medium sized single window (as both shown with splinter camo backing) would suit a Luft/FD/FJ breast eagle perfectly!
Thanks for looking,
Patrick

Very nice frames Patty
What I like most about them is they look like a matched set and are of simple/clean design so they dont detract attention from the contents. You will also find they are very flexible inasmuch as you can fit almost anything in there (cloth & most metal insignia and badges including the thick flight badges and decorations) without the pieces being in contact with the glass (which is an important feature to me) and even add disseccant envelopes (to combat humidity)
I'm not sure if its the exact same type of frame (it sure looks like it) but I was able to obtain a whole pile of them in 3 different sizes from a local store (similar to Wallmart) in a "clear out"sale. The smaller ones are equivalent to your medium size, the medium ones look the same as your 3 panel ones and the larger ones are about 18" X 24" with the mat board cut to allow different size pictures but the mat is easy enough to replace if necessary. Very well made frames but since in my case the largest ones were only a few dollars each I suspect they werent "conservation/ museum quality" frames so I applied a few coats of sealer on the inside before using them to prevent any chemical reaction of the frame with the contents.
I like your idea of uniform cloth as a background, I'm more of a "velvet man" myself (for badges/medals anyway) but it would be great for insignia. I dont have any pictures of recent displays using the frames you show but here is a crappy picture of an earlier attempt using a very similar (but narrower) frame with a double mat to display a few luft badges
If you're anything like me though you'll find you're always missing "something" important to complete a set and frame it but maybe my luck will change eventually so I have the frames anyway
Best regards
