The RK came out of Russia several years ago. It did not come with the suspension ring, and it did not come with the ribbon. The piece that you see detached from it happened over time, as it was a fragile fragment that broke off from years of being handled and put in a safe place. So for all you dis-believers, you're right, nobody went around the battle field and picked up the pieces from the RK and kept them all together, as the pieces came apart over time. As I said, the ribbon and loop are original 3rd Reich items that were added to the display. Can I prove that this was a casuality of war........ NO. Am I going to prove to anybody that this was a casuality of WWII....... NO. It is an original RK that has had been damaged. If you examine this RK you will notice that what ever penetrated it came in from a angle almost perpendicular to the cross, high from the left obverse and passing down diagonally to the lower right reverse of the cross. This MAY be consistent with a projectile entering from a higher position as perhaps a sniper in a building. If you were to fake a medal like this, you would have had to shoot a $hit load of these original RK's, to get the trajectory that this one displays. Once again, I'm not going to get into some pi$$ing match with what happened, and how can I prove it etc, etc. It's an original RK that is damaged, and we'll leave it at that. JR

Yep well I still like it!!! My german helmet has a hole in the liner and some dubious stains around it, I put a bullet in the hole and it matches exaxctly, but as JR said, we cant prove anything!!
