Then, thanks to your 2 or 3 kicks in the butt, our telcons and emails, I finally put in my bid which sealed it.

As I wrote in the Wisch bio acknowledgments my friend: If it hadn't been for you, insisting with me to buy and buy Wisch items, the group and the book wouldn't be what it is today....

In the end I'm always happy with my acquisitions.

You know me, I'm too "subborn" and "brainy" sometimes asking for the sense behind all this collecting, but "thanks" to you I always end up adding more and more items...Now is that good or bad?!!?!?

Hey, and I still got the awesome sniper combat photos as well....!
(probably THE best actual combat photos (smoke, guns, troops, fire) I've got in my collection)

            My neighbor...

Our neighbor seems to have a bigger and more valuable collection that I have..... You've gotta love México....I will definitely not ask, nor investigate who lives there....

That tower would make a great DDR reenactment backdrop!

Soyuz TMA-32M // Expedition 32 returned to Earth

Off topic a little, but anyway...

Expedition 32 is back from the ISS and me and my family are now eagerly awaiting our flown family photo. It will be picked up from the cosmonaut's home by the end of October and couriered over to our home after roughly 6 months on board the station.

The most thrilling thing will be to see the photo floating around in the station. (The crew took a photo of the picture in the ISS and stamped and signed it onboard).

Below a shot of the rather rough landing...

                  Reverting.

                  Markus

I´m actually curious to hold that photo that was in space...!! you definitely need a 1/6 astonaut figure for your space race set up

Sepp Dietrich KC neckribbon ID'ed on 1944 photo

The other day I stumbled over this 1944 photo of Sepp Dietrich wearing his black Panzer wrapper.

I couldn't fail to notice and was certainly pleasantly surprised to see, that underneath the collar of his black service shirt he was wearing his Oakleaves and Swords on my converted EK-2 ribbon.

The ribbon and other items from my collection were taken from Dietrich's residence in Oberstdorf in the summer of 1945 by CIC and regular U.S. Army personnel.

Read about the complete details on the capture of these items in the next issue of "Der Freiwillige" (Munin-Verlag) magazine.

                      Cheers,
                      Markus

                            Back from Space....

Our family photo came back from space today after spending the past 6 months on board the International Space Station (ISS) !

They have a bit of a cleaning problem up there seemingly.

I noticed, that the lower edge of the photo where it was stuck into one of the ISS's windowframes to take the on-board photo is kind of dirty... On the next trip up I'll send our maid instead of the photo!

Second image shows reverse of the original photo with the official on-board stamp of the ISS and the daily ISS stamp. Moreover the cosmonaut has signed.

                            Cheers,
                            Markus

PS. Neutralized the photo - Mexico unfortunately is no safe country to live in nowadays.

Stay and be safe south of the border!
