my mom bought an item today but we are not sure what it is, the seller told us it is dated around 1945 and thinks it belonged to a soldier.

to me it looks like a survival box where you can put dry tinder in and to light the tinder they made a glass in the box to redirect the sun. thats what it looks like.
maybe you guys have any more idea or info for me?

there is a mark on it that says D.R.P ang.

I have found some information about a object that might bring some "light" up on this object of yours. Its not identical but its very similar to yours and therefore I would assume its ment to be for the same purpose. What I found was circle shaped and it was a battery driven small early flashlight in pocket size.
