Hey guys, I'm adding some campaign shields to my collection and when placing them in my medal case the glass pushes down on the metal part and crunches the cloth backing, I would hate to ruin the shield so I am looking for some ideas on how you display yours in your collections, thanks for any help

Standing upright on medal display stands with a wider case that does not touch the shield in any way.
Riker cases are not to very good even though I see them used often.
In fact they make even the best collection look cheap!

I dont think they are attached at all they are just leaning back at an angle

Here is another option if you have a Hobby Lobby or Michael's craft store near you. In the frame department both sell hinged shadow boxes that are about 3/4 inch deep. They come in a few different sizes and in a black or cherry finish. Once or twice a month they are on 50% off sale which is also nice. I remove all of the inside fiber padding and then take a piece of foamboard and cut it to the inner dimension of the frame. I line up what I want to put in the case on top of the foamboard and trace the outline and then cut out the shape with a hobby knife. That way each item has its own fitted place. For some items I will use a single 1/4 inch thick piece or for thicker items I will double it. I then put a piece of cloth down over the foamboard and tuck the sides in between the frame edge and the foam board and place the items inside. Each item is nestled down in so it does not touch the glass, materials are safe to use with these items and you can put the case on an easel if you wish to display upright or lay flat. Below is a group of High Seas Fleet badges in one of the shadow boxes, each in its own hole.
