Opinions! What is the best way to take care of visors, helmet liners, and cloth (patches)? Most everything I have is in great shape, and I'd like to see that it remains that way. Also, I live very close to the ocean, how does that affect condition? And where is the best place to get good display cabinets

You might want to ask some of this in the conservation and preservation section of the forum but I can add my two cents:
Visors - Use special visor stands that have adjustable stretchers in them. Shown here: http://www.skippergreenwade.com/HEADGEAR-DISPLAYS.html When visors are sitting flat on a shelf the visor will be strained over time.
Helmets - Do not display on Styrofoam head (same goes for visors) as the gases that are released can damage the materials. Make sure that the environment is stable and not fluctuating in temperature or humidity. Leave the chin straps off of the helmet rim as the straps can be damaged that way.
With regards to where to get cabinets - Ikea has the famous Detolf cabinets which many collectors like (I have two). Second hand and antique stores are a great place to find vintage display cases. You can also usually find used commercial merchandising furniture outlets in major cities. There are places here in Toronto where you can buy used display cases, mannequins etc.
Hope that helps.
