    Well, the time has finally come. I have bought a 2.5 acre block and will build my own display room (with house attached). I have put some thought into it with the help of many of you here for ideas. The room will display mainly my LW Flak collection.

            Hi Mic,,Thanks for sharing the beginning of your Venture, im looking foward to seeing it as it progresses Tell me what is the Area like around your plot!! Is their a village or town nearby! Or is it a tad isolated! Either way its real cool

              Me too, I was originally going to go for a gas fireplace but nothing beats a real open wood fire. I found a zero clearance wood fire on ebay for $500 so wood fire place it is

              Ross, the town has a population of around 6000 and is 15 min from a major town of about 500 000, so not too isolated.

                    $500 Fireplace from Ebay

                    Had some issues with the frame width as the mantle would have protruded past the corners, the builder made the frame too narrow. You can see the added timber to each side. I emailed him the dimensions and painted a reminder on the floor and he still stuffed it! Anyway, all fixed now and ready for the flue and then plaster. I put the fireplace in myself.
