Unique, but only two of a kind, or more specifically, one of only two still known to exist (so far...). A strangely patterned Japanese Imperial Navy seaman's cap. No one knows for sure, but wartime photographic evidence seems to associate this pattern to submarine engine room personnel.

The only other one I'm aware of, a petty officer's example, is owned by an (extremely) advanced WW II Japanese headgear collector on the east coast.

I remember the original threads talking about this in 2005 Dan! Still a favorite post and to this day I always look extra close to photos of sub crews

Thanks, Eric. I do that as well. Hoping that some definitive "break through" information comes to light.

While not Second World War, these are by far the most unique items
in my collection and were my Grandfathers.

A French Croix de Guerre ring and a bullet...

He was a corporal in the 77th Inf Div during the First World War

The bullet is very unique, not looking much different than any other, its whats inside...

Written on a piece of cigarette rolling paper in his hand writing, is this note...

"This is one of the shells from LT. Symths machine brought down Aug 17 1918. 15000ft."

The note was taken out of the shell twice in my life time by me, once in my teens to copy what was written
and a second time in recent years to take these pictures.

This wooden box was made for someone in the hafenschutzflottille Bergen which is my hometown in Norway. As you can see, it has the coat of arms of Bergen on the dagger. I'm not sure who it was made for so if anyone knows, please let me know.

                Regards,
                André

                  Good morning,

                  Very nice items!

I own a simple document, written in the bunkers below the Reichskanzlei on 24. April 1945 while the battle for Berlin was raging.
It was intended for the guards of the Reichskanzlei.
There must have been many of those kind of documents around, but almost none survived (if any).

What makes this document unique is the fact that it survived the war and that the back shows 19 signatures. 16 were identified as written by the RSD-members that guarded the Hitler-bunker.

At least three of these men were witnesses of the burning of AH.

Nice to see this cap again! I have a black example. These are, in my opinion below deck caps. Engine room etc. If you ever want to trade or sell.......
