    Headgear Displays

    Guys,
    As many of you know, I spend a lot of time with Skipper Greenwade in his woodshop creating sawdust. For the past couple months I've been playing around with some designs speciffic to US and Japanese headgear and thought I'd see what you guys think of my efforts. First up is a jeep stand for US visors and helmets.

      I made these compatible with Skipper's hat stretchers. Basically the way they work is that the stretcher is inserted into the visor or helmet, which holds it by the band instead of the liner. This helps maintain to original the shape and provides propper support. Then the stretcher fits into a grove on the stand so it is readily availble to pick up and view.

        I was considering making some more of these to put on our table at the SOS. In the past I've found out that when I think something is cool, I'm the only one, so I'd appreciate some opinions before I tool up to make more.

          Tell the Skipper it's a wonderful idea. Quite creative in utilizing the same process used to stretch shoes with. I see you adapted it very well in line with the emphasis on keeping the helmet or cap taut. Great idea and the jeep stand bookends is a nice idea too. Why don't you try selling some on the estand here.

              They are great hat stands. I have bought a few stands from Skip and love them, these stands really present a visor/helmet well.
              I would love to see a German stand, it would be nice to see what you could come up with, I will be willing to put my hand in my wallet to purchase a stand.

              Please make a german stand.

                I personally think that the headgear is the star of any display. These novelty stands are quirky but a little too gaudy for my taste.

                  I do agree with Adam but that is just my personal taste. I prefer an unadorned stand that blends in to a display.

                    I agree with Adam and Chris. Detract from the headgear on display. I do however love the m24 stick grenade stands. Have a few from Skip. Jacques

                        I think these would be great for one or two caps or helmets, but if you tried to have 15 of these side by side, it would be a little much IMO.

                        It is VERY creative though Larry.

                          Thanks for the comments, Since I really don't have more than one of any item, I never gave much thought to the "overwhelming" aspect. I only have one of each style to display my best item. Certainly you could overdose on these. This is the main reason for I'm requesting feedback. They're a bear to make and I don't want to go to the trouble if the collecting community doesn't like them.
