Hi all
So I have been buying all sorts of stuff for 6 months now, and I must say I have bought a lot of crap, beginners naivety I guess, but then there are lots of good stuff I have (Paperwork and a few other bits and bobs). The thing Im struggling with is what to focus on, because pretty much all of it fascinates me! I gave myself a month to decide and still, I have no idea. My main interest is of course German, which I will get to at the end of this.
The only two things I have decided on are two small three small displays that I will do, then leave that subject alone. The first is a Soviet Union display. Ive got a Lenin Banner, A Red Army Banner, a Red Army Officers Uniform, a Soviet Colonels Winter Coat and still looking to find a tatty used red army flag and Marine Officers Uniform. Will probably display the three uniforms in front of the Banner and two flags, with medals on the uniform and on display. What are the views on this?
The second is a Battle of Britain Display. So far I have a Union Jack from the trenches, a full RAF Officers uniform and an RAF Officers Greatcoat and still looking to find another RAF Visor and maybe another flag for a background.
What are the views on this?
The possibility of doing a Japanese display are still on my mind, as I have recently bought a few signed Japanese war flags and banners. The idea maybe just to put one Uniform on display in front of the flags and banners?
Now on to the German collection. My problem is that I like too much. Gebirgsjager, Afrika Korps, general Wehrmacht, Kreigsmarine, Luftwaffe, SS, SA, Political. Theres just too much! I have a fair few Gebirgsjager things, and same with Afrika Korps, so I would stick with them. But as for everything else im not sure. Does anybody have any ideas what I should do? If I should sell some things and focus more on others?
Of course all of the rubbish ive bought is being sold, sticking to original stuff. Ive stopped buying and been reading up and researching what to look for and that. So hopefully the days of being fooled are over.
Here are a few photos of things I already have, beware there is much rubbish! Haha
Cheers for any help and suggestions
Michael
