@ironfist - Yeah, he loved to ride. He unfortunately passed 4 years ago, 1 year shy of becoming a lifetime member of the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association).
What's funny, is both of his parents were from Germany (they moved here in the 1920's - he was born in the US). In the 1940's, the FBI actually visited and searched their home. Apparently a few of the neighbors had some concerns about them being German and thought they were sympathizers. Even made allogations that they had a transister radio that was being used to send intel back to Germany. Of course, nothing was found.
Kids in the neighborhood even called him kraut and Nazi. Obviously that didn't have too much of an impact as he wore the helmet later on with no issue!
Hi there what you do here now is a great tribute to your Grand father. To carry it all on is a great compliment ,you keep up the good work .Carry on .Regards Pete
@ Pete - I'm big into researching my family's history as well as my wife's. As a result, I have accumulated quite a few items linked to both sides that go back generations. My only wish is that my son and daughter (2yrs & 2 wks respectively) feel the same way when they are older and preserve those items for future generatations of our family.
