Lager bringing the Germans and English together in the thirties

I just picked up this Carlsberg Lager from the thirties which i thought i would share with you as it put a smile on my face and i found it to be quite rare as it has the British flag and the swastika on the label.

And as this is the collections display forum i took a zoom out picture to show its new home, I hope that you enjoy this small part of my collection.

THe svastika was part of the old Carlsberg logo. Has nothing to do with Germany.

The Danish brewery company Carlsberg Group used the swastika as a logo from the 19th Century until the middle of the 1930s when it was discontinued because of association with the Nazi Party in neighbouring Germany. However, the swastika carved on elephants at the entrance gates of the company's headquarters in Copenhagen in 1901 can still be seen today

Here you have it on the calrsberg elephant.. Nothing to do with Third Reich, but Carlsberg Stopped using in some where around 1940, some sayes 1942 as they did not wanted to be associated whit the Nazi's

As seen below it was a registered trade mark alredy back in the 1881.

              Regards. Jacob
