          It makes me very happy that you all enjoyed my small collection.
          Hopefully I'll be posting more photos soon.
          There's some bad news though: on July 22 Hans Gerisch died in his house in Angermünde, Germany, just two weeks before I was going to visiti him there...

              Do you know which number boat this Type II is? I would imagine less than 100?

              Any other photos of the boat or crew w/ cap devices come with this one that would help identify the vessel?

                Hello William, I am at a loss with this photo as I don't remeber when and from which auction I got it. All I can is that it is an early type II since it hast the holes in the conning tower to where the reich eagle was nailed, this was featured in the prewar boats and removed as soon as war broke out. The shape of the conning tower removes the possibility of it being a type IID.
                Sadly that's all I can say about it...

                  Latest addition: Oberleutnant Gerhard Nolte as Watch Officer while undergoing commander training before taking over U-1194 in October 1943. Sadly this officer went missing in the Neubrandenburg area as consequence of infantry combat in April 1945. It is quite striking to think that he lost his life so close to the war's end... those final days must have been quite a terrible thing to live through...

                      Congratulations on a great collection of U-Boot photos!

                      I've always felt the itch to build a U-Boot photo collection myself, coming from Northern Germany originally, but with the "LSSAH" I have more than enough to handle collectionwise.

                      I'll be following your advances with great interest.

                            Nicolas did you build the model yourself or purchased it as is? It's nice when you can come face to face with the real U-Boat, could you go inside it?

                              William I'm glad you liked it!

                              Lou, yes I built it myself from the Revell kit, it took almost 2 years to be finished!

                              U-534 was cut into 5 sections for display since they couldn't afford to display it in all it's length. The good thing is that now you look into the inside which it would have been impossible if the boat remained as it was. You'll see what I mean in this photos:

                                U-boat Models

                                Attached is a photo of a model I build back in 1994. It shows the control room of a type VII C. Its built in 1/15th scale and based on the interior of U-995 at Laboe, near Kiel.
